A few weeks ago I attended the Texas Association for College Admission Counseling (TACAC) annual conference held at Horseshoe Bay Resort just outside of Austin. This was my first time to attend, and as a high school counselor who helps with college admissions, I found many of the sessions insightful and useful.

Texas Success Initiative (TSI) | Undergraduate Admissions

The selection process for Business Honors is separate from the admission process for Texas A&M University. Admission to Texas A&M University as a business major does not guarantee selection to Business Honors. All Texas A&M admissions decisions are made by the . Selections decisions for Business Honors are mailed separately from Texas A&M University admissions notifications.

How to apply as a freshman at Texas A&M University.

Aside from the requirements listed above, there are no additional application requirements for Business Honors. Selections will be made using the Apply Texas Application or The Coalition Application and all materials sent to the Office of Admissions. Please do not send any additional materials to the Business Honors office. We review applications electronically and cannot accommodate supplemental documents.

I recommend heeding their advice, especially if you’re requiring more than one of their prompts. For example, if Texas A&M is on your list, they require a response to Topic A and Topic B, but they also encourage you to submit Topic C if you don’t qualify for automatic admission. That’s three major essays! Now think of the admission officer reading all those essays. I promise, no matter how good of a writer you are, your admission officer does not want to read three 1000 word essays when she has a pile of other applications to get through that day.High school requirements for all other graduates

Exceptions to the Uniformed Admissions Policy
Under Texas Education Code (TEC) 51.807, the high school is identified as the certifying authority regarding a student's successful completion of the Recommended or Advanced/Distinguished high school programs or a curriculum equivalent. Exemptions to this Policy require completion of one of the two Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board exemption forms provided below. Each form may be used to provide an explanation of the exemption claim and must be submitted by the high school counselor or other school official in addition to all other required credentials for admission.
