Each application is reviewed individually, and the Admission Committee considers each applicant as an individual. To that end, students are selected on the basis of many attributes—academic record, extracurricular achievements, demonstrated leadership and community contribution, personal essays, and letters of recommendation. Admissions decisions are comprehensive and there is no magical formula for deciding the perfect Emory University student.

Emory University student-athletes grow from their athletic experiences and become national and community leaders in their fields. The Admission Committee reviews all applicants through a holistic process. Students are admitted based on many factors, including academic rigor, standardized test scores, extracurricular activities and jobs, leadership and community involvement, as well as through their essay responses and teacher recommendations. Athletic achievement is one of many factors included in the review. As an NCAA Division lll school, we are not permitted to offer athletic scholarships or allow athletic talent to influence financial aid in any way. Emory University provides as determined by the . Need-based aid is available to all students, including recruited athletes. Merit-based scholarships also exist for students applying through the . Emory University coaches are familiar with admission policies and work closely with admission staff throughout the application process. Coaches can be an important resource for prospective athletes and their families. Coaches may offer advice and provide feedback to the admission office at any time. Coaches are allowed to make a commitment of support to a prospective student-athlete. However, only the Office of Undergraduate Admission can review an applicant, make an admission decision, and notify an applicant of that admission decision. Emory University coaches may ask admission staff for a preliminary academic review of a prospective student athlete. These requests can only be made by the Emory University coach, not the student or the student's family. The academic review can include transcripts and standardized test scores. The admission office provides feedback to the coach, who can pass that feedback on to the prospective student. Please remember that this assessment is considered preliminary. Future assessments by the admission staff are based on a holistic review of the student's official completed application, and the review details cannot be shared with the prospective student.
